The Better Crypto Scanner · A practical guide
Learn the scanner,
one step at a time.
Find crypto markets to research, understand the numbers, and save a list to follow. This guide explains the scanner in plain language.
Open the scannerChoose what to compare
Choose a trading platform (an exchange) and the currency used to show prices. Each selection updates the results.
Compare the numbers
Narrow the list by price range, choose the order of the results, and decide how many you want to see.
Review on a chart
Open a price chart in TradingView, a charting website, or download a list of the markets you want to follow.
01 · Set your filters
Five controls. One focused list.
The dropdowns apply automatically. Make one selection, let the page reload, then choose the next. There is no separate Apply button.
- 1. Exchange
- Choose a trading platform, or leave All Exchanges selected to compare several. Some entries say Futures or Perpetual: these are contracts based on crypto prices, rather than buying the coin itself.
- 2. Market
- Choose the currency used to show prices, also called the quote currency. In BTC-USDT, BTC means Bitcoin and USDT is another cryptocurrency used to price it. The Market choices can change with the exchange.
- 3. Spread
- Keep All Spreads or choose under 10% (<10%), 10–20%, or over 20% (>20%). These groups describe how far the recorded price moved from its low to its high.
- 4. Sort By
- Pair sorts names A–Z or Z–A. 24hLow (low-hi) puts the smallest distance above the recorded low first. Spread sorts the percentage range from smallest to largest or largest to smallest.
- 5. Limit results by top
- Show 5, 10, 25, 50, or All matching results. “Top” means first in the selected sort order, not a rating of trade quality.
- Start over with Reset Filters
- Restore the scanner’s default view. Use the sun and moon icons to switch between the light and dark versions.
02 · Read the results
What is each row telling you?
Each row is one trading pair: one asset priced in another currency. For example, BTC-USDT shows the price of Bitcoin in USDT. The same coin can have a different price on each exchange.
| Exchange | Trading Pair | High | Low | Last | Near 24h Low | Spread(LvH) | Spread Category |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Example | DEMO-USDT | 118 | 100 | 104 | 4.0 | 18.0% | 10–20% |
Place the last price inside the recorded range
(104 − 100) ÷ 100 × 100
This is Near 24h Low.
(118 − 100) ÷ 100 × 100
This is Spread(LvH).
- Exchange & Trading Pair
- The trading platform and the two currencies being compared. On a computer, click the pair name to open its TradingView chart in a new tab.
- High & Low
- The highest and lowest prices in the scanner’s recorded 24-hour range.
- Last
- The most recent price saved by the scanner. It may differ from the price you see on an exchange now.
- Near 24h Low
- The last price’s percentage distance above the recorded low: (Last − Low) ÷ Low × 100. A smaller number is closer to that low.
- Spread(LvH)
- The percentage change from the recorded low to the high: (High − Low) ÷ Low × 100. It measures the size of the price range.
- Spread Category
- The under-10%, 10–20%, or over-20% group used by the Spread filter. Because the numbers are rounded, use the displayed category when a percentage appears right on the dividing line.
03 · Try an example
Try a list of five markets.
This example shows up to five crypto markets on KuCoin with prices shown in USDT. Each is in the 10–20% price-range group. The largest percentage range appears first.
Use it to practice reading the controls. Results change as the scanner’s stored data changes.

04 · Save a watchlist
Save a list to follow.
A watchlist is a saved list of markets you want to keep an eye on. Create Watchlist downloads your current results as a text file. The list follows your selected filters, sort order, and result limit.
- Choose your results.
Set the filters and limit first, then review the returned rows. All current results are included in the export. - Select Create Watchlist.
Save the generated.txtfile. Its name reflects your filter selections. - Upload it in TradingView.
Open TradingView’s watchlist panel, click the watchlist name, and choose Upload list… from the menu. Select the downloaded file. TradingView’s current import instructions ↗
A list of symbols, not prices
EXCHANGE:SYMBOL1, EXCHANGE:SYMBOL2, EXCHANGE:SYMBOL3
Example format only. A symbol is the short code for a market. The file lists each exchange and symbol, separated by commas. Keep the original .txt format when importing.
If TradingView cannot find a symbol, search there for the coin and its exchange. Contracts, such as futures, can use different codes from buying the coin directly. Some markets may not have a matching chart.
A few useful details
When something looks different.
Why are there no results?
Your filter choices may not match any markets in the scanner. Try All Markets or All Spreads, or use Reset Filters to start again. Available markets depend on the exchange.
Why does the timestamp look old?
Last Update shows when prices were last saved, using UTC. Reloading the page shows the saved results; it does not collect new prices from the exchanges. If the time shown is old, check prices directly on the exchange or TradingView.
How does the scanner look on a phone?
On smaller screens, results are arranged as pair cards rather than a table. The headers show the exchange, pair, and spread. Use a wider screen for a side-by-side view of all columns and clickable chart links.
Will this place trades or connect to my exchange account?
No. The scanner filters and displays market data and prepares watchlist files. These controls do not place orders or connect to your exchange account.
What if the watchlist does not download?
Check your browser’s download indicator or Downloads folder, and try the scanner in a regular desktop browser. Make sure your filters return at least one row. You can also open individual pair links from the desktop table.
